I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Retroactively change a post in the flow to a reply.

If you forget to make your comment a reply then you can change it after you have sent it.

  2. add support for custom group @mentions in chat

Much like @everyone, there should be a way to define custom groups of users who can be mentioned at once by evoking e.g. @devteam, @admins etc. Groups may overlap (that is, a given user may be member in 0..* groups).

  3. Enable search in private one-on-one chats

We use both the group chat and private one-on-one chats a lot. Sometimes it's difficult to remember when and where some issues was discussed. Full text search works great in the group chat, it should work in private chat too. Now we're considering moving our private chats back to skype to get the search working.

  4. As a user, I want to be able to set desktop notification settings per flow.

We have one room which is for everyone in our organization; for "hallway" or "watercooler" conversations. We then have one room per team. I'd like to be able to always get desktop notifications in my team's room, but not in our shared room.

Check out your Flowdock preferences (your-name menu on top left → Preferences… → Notifications) for per-flow configurable desktop and sound notifications.

Push (email and mobile) notification configurability will follow later. This is the first version of this feature, so keep the feedback coming after you’ve given it a try!

  5. Allow pasting images from the clipboard

Allow pasting an image directly from the clipboard. (On mac, ctrl+command+shift+4). Other chat systems do this by catching that the paste is an image and dropping it into a file upload dialog.

We know this is coming in a tad late, but better late than never.

This has been addressed and works on macOS High Sierra for both mac app and browsers. Hope you enjoy this one!

  6. Allow code to be formatted inline with backticks

    Example:

The following code alerts you: `alert("Hello!");`

  7. Avatar to the left of each message in Chat

Similar to other chat message systems, include the user's avatar on the first line of each chat message. Obviously this should not be passed to anyone using an IRC client with flowdock. When in flows with several users talking rapidly, it's hard for the eye to keep track without the avatars.

  8. I'd like to be able to use Markdown directly in my chat post

It'd be nice to be able to use Markdown directly to a chat message just as I can in github PRs, say to [add a link](http://flowdock.com) or _emphasize_ some text or <insert Markdown feature>.

  9. Add filtering to Jira-plugin

At the moment Jira-plugin is quite useless to us since it generates flow messages even for the tiniest change in Jira. It would make following Jira-actions much more easier if messages to flow could be restricted to for example certain workflow steps.

  10. Add private messages

  11. Add edit/delete own messages

It’s now possible to edit the messages you’ve sent in chat. The functionality can be found next to tagging button.

  12. Windows desktop app

Build a native Windows desktop app. You already have one for OSX, why not Windows?

Flowdock now displays ‘Blah is typing’ notifications and there’s a setting to opt out of showing/sending typing status.

  14. Native Android app

So you developed your iOS app using AppGyver. I heard they also support Android apps, does that mean Android app is on the way? Please be it.

iPhone app is available in App store and development continues. I’m closing this ticket for now, feel free to post new tickets about individual features.

  16. Limit push notifications to when you're AWAY

The iPhone push notifications are great for when you're mentioned and when someone sends you private chat messages.

However, when you're in front of your computer and able to see the messages in the Flowdock window behind whatever you're working on (optionally having desktop & audio notifications drawing your attention over there too) you shouldn't have your iPhone dance across your desk as it alerts you to the same messages you're already seeing on your computer screen.

Flowdock keeps track of presence and idle time already. My suggestion is to restrict (perhaps by a profile option) push notifications for private…

Flowdock app now makes the best effort to see if you’re on the computer. If you are (for example, if a desktop notification is successfully shown), push email and mobile notifications will not be sent. We’re now marking this request Completed, but obviously all feedback is still welcome.

  17. Notify of changes in other flows

If you have multiple flows it would be really useful to see some sort of count badging around the house/home icon to show you there's been activity in another flow.

Flowdock now has different flows in tabs, and the tabs have new message indicators/counts shown on them.

To restart a trial period you can either sign up again or log in and visit https://www.flowdock.com/trials to get an extension.

  18. List flows vertically instead of horizontally

After joining around 10 flows the flow names get concatenated because of not enough horizontal space. It'd be better to have the flows listed vertically (ala Skype).

Beta access is now enabled for everyone, and includes a sidebar instead of tabs. Refresh Flowdock, and you should find the option to enable the beta under the user menu.

Please send all feedback to support@flowdock.com!

  19. Add emoji reactions

Allowing "reactions" to messages would allow the use of things like "+1" that can be very useful communication but tend to clutter threads if they have to be posted as separate messages.

  20. Syntax Highlighting

Flowdock is a collaboration app for technical teams and has special syntax for including code inside a message. It's natural to assume some form of syntax highlighting would be very useful inside a code block.

I'm currently using userscripts to implement that functionality via google-code-prettify, which is a simple script and, yet, results are pretty good.

It'd be great if Flowdock had this natively!
